if i do not put anti virus software on my portable, but it is on the computer that i am using, am i still safe from viruses and spyware?

It's all depending really on the antivirus software you are using or whats on the computer really. Each A-V Software has a different Database and what is classed as a Virus on one A-V software may not be classed as a virus yet in another and will hide in the host computer for sometime until that definition is given
