1.5.0.2 installed on hard disk. ThunderbirdPortable.ini (with "RunLocally=true") added in same directory as PortableThunderbird.exe. Burnt on CD. When starting CD, I get the error message "Thunderbird is alread running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or restart your system." I restart my system. When starting Thunderbird, I get an error message (in German) saying something like "The process could not be initiated correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the process."
Thanks in advance!

If you have another instance of TB open, the error message gives some pretty clear instructions.
Vintage!
No, of course I do not habe another instance of TB open. See please my posting: even after rebooting my system, TB doesnt start from CD.

Person 1: I can't remember, I've forgotten.

Yes, I run it before I burnt it (as required by the TB isntructions). I run it and burnt it several times, always the same result.

I have completely reinstalled version 1.5.0.9 on my hard disk where it runs correctly. I have added the ThunderbirdPortable.ini (with "RunLocally=true") in same directory as PortableThunderbird.exe. I have burnt the complete directory on a CD.
When starting TB from the CD, I get the error message "ThunderbirdPortable cannot run directly form a read-only locaction and will now close."
However a CD is always a read-only location. So how do I burn a Live CD? Has anybody succeeded in doing this?
Thanks in advance
Walt
PS: No problem starting TB from a USB stick
I have the same problem / error-message with Thunderbird 2.0.0.5 !
What is the reason ?
How to solve that problem ?
I'm going to make a reasonably educated guess that Thunderbird wants the ability to write to the .INI file (even though it may presently have no reason to). Because of the .INI file (expectedly) being read-only on the CD, it freaks out & doesn't want to run like you want it to.
The USB drive works because the application is able to have write access to the file it desires.

It sounds as though there is an error in the installer. It shouldn't display that, unless RunLocally=false is set.
