CD/DVD Burning -- Anything at all that will install to a thumbdrive?

I have a DVD burner in an external enclosure that I would like to use on public PCs to burn disks for others from my thumbdrive. Even if not designed specifically for portable use, has anyone had any luck using any software for DVD burning that will install on a thumbdrive?

There sure is

Man, John's fast. I mean, you just barely asked for it and John already has it done. Check it out.

He even predicted I'd come up with the request - 7 Days earlier!

InfraRecorder Portable 0.43.1 Pre-Release 4 (Testers Needed)

He must be sorta like a pre-cog ala Minority Report, heh.

Nice looking app actually, but it sucks about not being able to use it without being an administrator though. Pretty much rules out burning on any sort of public PC, which is why I wanted the app in the first place. Maybe there's a way...along the lines of having a public PC boot up to linux off a thumbdrive or something. If anybody has done this, please feel free to share... Maybe most admins are too smart to allow this loophole, if even it's even preventable?? (it would be easy to set the bios for a boot order with the system hard drive 1st to protect against this sort of thing, but I wonder if most admins even do this -- or do they do usually do something else instead?)

Has anyone tried CDBurner XP Pro?

CDBurnerXP Pro works on The Ultimate Boot CD for Windows (XP on a CD), so it might work on a USB flash disk. Look up the instructions for making it work on UBCD4Win.

AFAIK

It is not portable, just mobile.

Um, that can't strictly be true...

I'm thinkin' that can't strictly be true, and here's why:

Inasmuch as

1)UBCD can't "write" back to itself as it runs programs, that implies that there are no registry "writes" that occur when using any of its programs.

2) Moreover, it also doesn't write to the Registry (or HDD, AFAIK) of the host PC, since said PC may not even have Windows installed

3) Therefore, there must be some sort of way to take any given program which runs under UBCD4Win and port it for use portably, even if it involves coding for "temp" registry keys that are deleted upon termination of the app

Unfortunately, I'm not a coder, so I hafta leave it to those who ARE to come up with such hacks/patches/keys/workarounds. So, here's hoping that they do, as I'd love to see this program made portable

All that to say this:

"...Okay, so let's have some instructions how to make it "mobile", then, eh?..."

"Instructions"?... You mean there's instructions?...

Whoah!... Where might I find said "instructions" for making it portable (or 'mobile', or whatever folks wanna call it...)???...

At the UBCD4Win site? If so, wherein?...

CD Burner XP Pro plugin for Bart PE / UBCD

Right on the CD Burner XP forums; link here. It is for Bart PE, which UBCD is based off of, IIRC.

Deepburner

I use Deepburner portable. Not sure if it works without admin rights, though.
