PortableApps Suite Standard update planned?

Hello John,

First of all thank you for all your hard work to support Open-Source software during the last years!

Now that we have all the current versions of the most important programs (OpenOffice.org, Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird, VLC media player, KeePass, GIMP [nearly up to date], Notepad++, Sumatra PDF) and the portable Java support, it would be great to see a new PortableApps Suite Standard release, the people out there would love it Wink

Add all the nice games and the last PortableApps Menu and the users will soon get addicted.

I am a bit unhappy that there are still no portable versions of Inkscape and Songbird, but Inkscape is pretty big on the other hand.

So Pidgin would be the only package which should really get updated and included before the release of PortableApps Suite Standard 1.1 from my point of view.

Keep up the extraordinary work and greetings from Germany,
René

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

I Agree

After seeing all the updating done recently, I also think it is time for a new version of not only the PortableApps Suite but the PortableApps application itself.

It's been a while since an update and I think that maybe a new version could look great. A Vista look to it or something.

Anyhow, I definitely hope in the very near future, there is an update for the PortableApps program.

Search

Search the Forum... there is a Vista Style theme you just have to copy to your PAM Menu... that's all... Biggrin

PortableApps Suite Standard update planned?

I have just today, downloaded all the separate files that are included in the Standard PortableApps Suite and updated my USB stick.

It would be great if the apps in the Suite were upgraded but I have to remember that John Haller (great man for starting all this), does have a life outside of PortableApps and we just have to wait patiently.

Soon

Once Pidgin Portable is finalized and the Menu 1.1 is posted.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Menu 1.1 or 1.0.2?

I believe that Pidgin Portable will be finished soon.
But Menu 1.1?
1.0.2 is in beta testing since January...

Awesome

Is there any word on when this is going to take place such as a general date or time frame?

(On-Demand) Collection Packs

PortableApps is great, but it would be nicer to have collection packs for several levels in addition to the standard and lite suite, say all network utility pack, admin pack, server pack, game pack, and even all packages suite.

I wish I have enough skill to contribute by making tool to create such packages on the fly.
