Thanks for OOo2.1. I had a big Word document with embedded images that I needed to extract to put into Adobe Framemaker.
Opened the word doc in OOo, saved it as a .sxw file (OOo 1.0 format), and then opened the .sxw file with winzip, and extracted all the PNG graphic files into the pictures directory - job done - 2 minutes.

save it as a webpage and get the pics out of the folder it creates.
Atleast that is what I do with Word.
