Exactly. It's not that important, but it would make using it easier. Did you get the PNG file of the icon? And do you have a instant messenging address? I might be able to help a little easier with one? If you want mine it is jacob_m001{at}hotmail.com

Ok i'll see what i can do
Yes i got the PNG thanks! I added it to the program and i'll update it later when i got some more fixes/features implemented. I'll add you to my msn.
1) Decide what language you want to learn (VB (=Visual Basic = the one i use))
2) Trial and error really. I googled almost all the time for info (i'm still doing that :P)
3) With Patience
A handy site for Visual Basic is: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/beginner/default.aspx
And there are tons others. Just google for "Visual Basic 2005 Express tutorials" or something alike.
It took me quite a bit yes. Start with something simple. Google for "Hello World tutorial" or something. That's usually the first program everyone makes.
u have to explain to me how u created this application from ViStart Using That App. Cause I Want To Make My Own Basic Portable Menu. And I Think You Could Be Able To Help Me. Do U Have A Messenger Or Something?
-----------------------------
if only i had a 1gb u3 flash drive :| then i would put twice the stuff and apps on it.
Released the latest version. It only contains 1 fix (check changelog above). This is the last release until i get back from my holiday. (Back in 2 weeks)
you made the PMenu abit smaller in version 1.0.0.4 it makes it very hard to get the vista skin looking good at the buttons at the bottom are too close to the bottom of the menu, it would be good if you could change it back to the size it was in previous versions. it would be even better if you could make it the same size as the windows vista start menu.

well the width should be 406 pixels. the high changes depending on how many items there is to display, so you should just change the hight to it's the same as is was in version 1.0.0.3. This is a screenshot of what the vista menu looks like

I just noticed that the background picture that is used was larger then my app so that this picture wasn't fully displayed (the bottom was cut off)
I fixed this now. People that already downloaded the 1.0.0.5 version should re-download it again.
can u host pmenu in more then one place please. like one on rapid share and mediafire. somthing like that. cause somthing i can't seem to download from sendspace

i can't seem to right click on the PMenu icon in the system tray anymore. the context menu doesn't display anymore, also you make PMenu come forward when u click on the PMenu icon in the system tray.

"A $5000 Computer... and it can't do a task as simple as killing Flanders!" -Homer
Indeed the right click doesn't work anymore. I replaced that menu with the "arrow" button. What do you mean with "you make PMenu come forward when u click on the PMenu icon in the system tray"?
like focus the menu. so when there's a window on top of the menu, you just need to click on the icon to bring it forward, so that it's on top the window instead.
and the PMenu is still small =/ look at the screenshots: Previous Ver.Current Ver.
you see how the current verion of PMenu makes the button come to close to the bottom and the edge of the menu. i'd be good if it could be in the same position as it was in the previouse version

hmm.. i think this pmenu could on of the best menus avaliable if it had a few more features:
-more themeing options, like the xrxca's & netdroids PAM.
-sorting the list by using folders. just like the windows vista's start menu. when you click on a folder it expands into a tree-like thingg.
-changing the amount of items displayed at once.
-movable buttons.
-custom buttons.
-removing the error that pops up when the documents, music, portableapps .etc is not avaliable.
-shouldn't display hidden files
-the option to choose which kind of files are displayed. a list where we could add file extension that should be displayed.
-the option to display the file's extension.
-displaying the icon of the program
i thnk that's all O_O" haha xD oh yehh and pmenu seems to freeze for a brief moment before displaying contents of portableapps. pmenu should search for the items and caches them like the original PAM before diaplying the menu.

I expect to implement easier theming, ability to add customized buttons, a fix for the 120 DPI bug and hopefully to show filenames in a tree sort of view like in the real Vista. I'm still working on this release but it will be released as soon as it's finished.
the theme chooser and custom buttons are great! great work. but the menu is still abit short. it gets cut at the bottom of the menu. the search, exit, minimize etc. are positioned too close to the bottom of the menu. also the thing that highlights the buttons when u put ur mouse over the buttons are extending pass the edges of the button. screenshot

the reason because it gets cut off is because the "startmenu.png" (found in resources map) is like that. I'm not good with photoshop at all so that's why i haven't changed it.
I fixed the highlighting thing of the buttons and made them a bit bigger.
I also added the option to "eject" you usb drive on close. (it will not exactly eject but it will show the "Safely remove hardware" dialog). Also found and fixed a little problem with the custom buttons. I will release the next version when i'm done.
oh alrites can't wait for the next release but then it's not becuase of the startmenu.png. even if i adjust it in photoshop it will not fit, the search and the menu buttons are situated too close to the actual frame of the menu. look at this screenshot. maybe and option to move the location of the search and the other buttons would be great! also it think it will looks much neater if you remove those border around those buttons too.

it's weird that you have this cut off problem anyway since on my computer i don't have it. :S
Adding an option so the user can move the buttons around won't be THAT easy but i guess it's doable. I'll think about it but it's not on the priority list atm
You mean that if it's not minimised and you click on the trayicon it should put PMenu on top of other windows?
