Just a heads-up to everyone. I'm starting the localization project on Monday and if you're multilingual... we'll need your help. The apps themselves are available in multiple languages, but the launchers have been English-only up until this point. You don't normally see messages from the launchers, unless there's a problem (eg: Another instance of Firefox is running, please close...)
The way it will work is I'll be posting a series of strings (sentence or two each) that we'll need translated. Replies will be made with those strings translated into each language and we'll go from there.
I was hoping to post it all last night, but I didn't get a chance and I'm in Miami for a few days for a friend's wedding. I've already had a couple volunteers, including folks working on the official translations for OpenOffice.org and Mozilla, so we'll be in good company. I myself am only multilingual in that I know how to curse in a few languages and ask where the library is in Spanish, but I know some other people are *actually* multilingual, so we'll need your help.
All translators will get credit in the releases.
That sounds amazing, can't wait to see how it goes. What exactly would need to be translated when it comes to Portable Apps? It sounds like you are as multilingual as I am . Oh, and congrats to your friend.

Mostly the alerts from the launchers that are common to all of them, like the example I gave "Another instance of Firefox is running, please close it before starting Portable Firefox". Or "Unable to find X, be sure to check your configuration". Things like that. As well as a couple of items around that.
After we get to that point, I'll need help with the support files and things along those lines. I may need to bring on folks to package the other languages as well at some point. We'll see how it pans out.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I'm a dutch student, and although my english is far from perfect I might be able to help translate some things into Dutch.
But I have never done such a thing before..
