Won't connect with Gmail

I have followed all the set up steps, and have enabled POP on my gmail account. Thunderbird won't connect. Always says server times out.

Thoughts?

Could you post your settings?

Then I could check.

Incoming: pop.gmail.com port

Incoming:
pop.gmail.com port 995
ssl checked: "secure authentification"

Outgoing:
smtp.gmail.com port 465
ssl user name and password complete

I had to set the proxy setting in FF portable to access gmail that way. Can't find where I might make those same settings in Thunderbird if needed.

OK

uncheck "secure authentification".
Outgoing port is 587 and TSL.
Make sure the username is whatever it is without the "@gmail.com".
That works for me.

Blocked

You're simply blocked from connecting at work, then. It's not that unusual.
