Thunderbird and Proxy

I am a new user of portable apps. I currently have firefox and thunderbird 2.0.0.6 installed on a thumb drive. Both work flawlessly when connected directly to the internet via DSL. Firefox works great when attached to a network with a proxy server after I made the configuration changes in tools|options|etc...

I made the identical changes for the proxy in thunderbird, but it doesn't work. The connection is timing out. Again, no problem when no proxy is involved and the identical proxy settings work with firefox. Any advice would be appreciated.

TB and Proxy

Sorry about the delay in my response. I'm using SBC Yahoo (sbcglobal.net). I work in IT and support proxy, VPN, etc in and out of our corporate network. Firefox works flawlessly for me, but I cant't get TB 2.0.0.5 or 2.0.0.6 to work through the proxy. I know I'm missing something...just can't figure out what it is.

Port Number Change

It turns out that the secure versions of pop and smtp protocols used port numbers that were blocked on our firewall. I forgot that sbcyahoo was now att and they changed from pop to pops and from smtp to smtps as well as a change in port numbers. As usual, the problem was located between the keyboard and chair.
