It

certainly shouldn't do that, could I ask what firewall you were using?

Update?

Do you have an option to check for updates?

There,

was some stuff for updating but that all got stripped out, there is really no way the it should be accessing the internet.

I concur. Toucan DOES phone home. I'll check back later for a 'safer' version...

There is nothing that,

I have added that would make it phone home. Could you tell me where it is phoning too?

Toucan tries to connect to

Toucan tries to connect to the DNS Server when I attempt to Encrypt a file. I select the file I want to encrypt, then press "Go", then I immediately get a notification from ZoneAlarm telling me that Toucan is trying to access the the DNS server. I didn't let it connect, so I don't know who it's trying to talk to. I didn't feel like letting my password get sent to who-knows-who.

Obviously, any program that tries connecting to ANYONE without my permission is a problem, but a program that involves 'Securing' my information? Tisk, tisk...

It shouldn't connect to

It shouldn't connect to anything. There is nothing in the code to make it phone home.

No,

seriously, it doesn't phone home. Considering that I seem to have only a couple of complaints and over 25,000 downloads I'm pretty sure that this is a false positive. Just as a thought though have you tried downloading another copy?

As,

sure as I can be (I have read through the source code and looked for any external calls, although my C isn't great).

Happened to me...

+1, I saw it the first time I ran it. I am not sure, but I think it was trying to access the DNS server. I said "no" and didn't have any problems. Could be a call to some MS function that most people have enabled.

Suggest setting all programs to ask in your firewall and rerunning Toucan.

That

was my current line of thought, perhaps it queries the DNS when it finds out the computers name, I'll look into it some more, as Clair suggests though, just set it to deny.
