I'm new to using Portable Apps.
I just bought a 1GB USB stick last week!
But I use Thunderbird 1.5 and the version of Portable Thunderbird is 1.07
Doesn't 1.07 have security bugs in it?
Is there a 1.5 version due out soon?

It's done, but I can't release it until I move this site to a dedicated server. It can't handle another Slashdotting on my current hosting account... it would be shut down.
I just had a 45 minute conference call with RackSpace. I have another with Peer1 later today. I'm hoping to move the site by the end of the week.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Is it not possible to add the release to the same directory (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/portabletbird/) on sourceforge, where the other versions of PTB are?
Everybody could download it from there!
if you didn't understand. He can't release it, because people will start to dowload it and it will kill his server bandwidth
so you have to wait for his new server
Embrace your dreams
Yes i understand. But sourceforge is not his server. His server is running on 66.29.51.24 which belongs to Net Access Corporation with the range 66.29.0.0 - 66.29.127.255 and sourceforge is running on a complete different netrange ...
And I think sourceforge is capable enough to hold this load ...
It is, but I'd need to setup a page here about it. Or update the PTB main page to point to it. And then someone would blog about it. And then it would get Slashdotted or Dugg. And then just from that page being nailed... my acct here would be shut down.
All the downloads are hosted at SF (which is good, because it's at 6TB a month and climbing). Just the HTML/CSS from this site hits 60GB a month and climbing. But the issue is the resource usage as lots of people who end up here browse around and, for better or worse, the whole site is DB-driven.
Fear not, though, it looks like I'll be signing a contract on a dedicated server today. I've been spending all my time this week researching, pricing, configuring, talking salespeople down, reading reviews, etc... even at the expense of paying work... because we NEED this server, basically, YESTERDAY.

Congrats, I can't wait for the new server!

Thanks John,
now I understand the hole situation. Let's hope that everything goes fine with the new server.
