I doubt PDFCreator can be made portable since it installs itself as a printer driver. Unless you intend to install the driver, create the printer on open...then delete the printer and remove the driver on closing.

I've set it as Not Available. Also made Project Lead Needed text bold, so it's easier to find.

I'm doing HTTrack.
John said he had Abakt Portable ready one time.
PDF Creator needs a PDF driver, John said Wireshark Portable will install and uninstall a driver, so I guess that's ok.
At some point in my life I may be able to do Neverball and Notepad2.

Set you as HTTrack lead.
John added, marked as unconfirmed.
See above comment. If people want to create PDFs on the go, they can use OOP.
Well, until you start, I haven't added you.
He hacked the code to make it portable. Search the forums
I've removed him for now, as I don't think it was PAF format and I don't know whether it is/was going to be maintained.

It's called Notepad++
Seriously, though. Is it really worth the effort since Notepad++ already supports what you're trying to add to Notepad2. And they're both based on SciTE, so they render things almost exactly the same.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Some people (Like me) Love Notepad2 better than Notepad++ but yet love the tabs in Notepad++ and wish it in Notepad2
I guess it's a love hate relationship

What's the difference between the two. The only things I noticed are N2 uses a few different colors for syntax highlighting and doesn't have tabs.

Notepad++ is heavily customizable so you can make it do pretty much everything you want. And both apps are pretty small, though Notepad2 is smaller (I think it's 300K vs 1.9M).
I think the beauty of them is that one does all kinds of fun stuff and one is just a dead simple drop in replacement for notepad with the cool syntax highlighting as a bonus. While creating a tabbed version of Notepad2 might be a fun way to learn coding, I don't know that it's really needed as that niche is already well filled by Notepad++.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
About Notepad++ filling in the Niche but sometimes you got to replace it with something else that other people might like better

It is kinda reinventing the wheel. You'd be FAR better off contributing to Notepad++ then trying to rebuild it. Notepad++ is the 12th most downloaded app on SourceForge. I don't think Notepad2 would crack the top 500 if it were on SF.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Quick side question about SF Downloads.
The PortableApps.com rank by most downloaded, does that included AbiWord,OOo, and the Mozilla apps?

Signature...What Signature?
Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird, Nvu/Kompozer, OpenOffice.org, AbiWord, GIMP and Gaim (not Pidgin) are all separate ranks at the moment. I'm working on combining them (note that Pidgin is now part of the PortableApps.com project instead of Gaim).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I didn't even know Gaim or GIMP had seperate pages. Once they're all merged together, imagine all the downloads you'll have. :|

I say:
Call it what you want I like notepad2 Better and I don't really care if notepad2 is not top on sf.net because I am not hosting it on sf.net. It's just a project that I've been working on to introduce my self to C++ programing.

And PortableApps is Top 43 (al time) /7 (last week) by downloads .
Thats cool.

Hi Ryan,
RC1 is ready.
I set up a page on https://portableapps.com/apps/games/enigma_portable but it is not published yet cause I'm not sure if this will be ok for John.
Please take a look at it (the link to RC1 is there to) and let me know how we will
get it public

... is portable by itself an stores its data in a subdirectory.
The only thing what's to do is to create a PA compatible package.
This could be done soon.
If You want (and John too ) You could set me as developer for it too

But because of Copyright reasons (the program is GPLed, the name is under copyright) we have to use the name like it is without suffix 'Portable'.
I'm in contact with the author and that are the conditions for using it as Portable.
If this will be ok add me for this job to (the rc is done )

Cause it says that it works as a Windows service. And I am not sure if Windows services can be spawned w/o admin privs.
If it can run portably w/o admin privs I might take on the project.

Even if it does, it would be more helpful on diagnosing a friends P.C. who has admin privleges.

I was reading a whole trail of Wikipedia articles tonight, when I came to when about the OpenCD, I forget how.
I read up, just to get some more background info, and to my surprise read the project has been discontinued as of September 27th, 07. I thought this was kind of weird as I e-mailed Chris, the project lead in August, to help out on the project, and he said once the got the forums running again, I could moderate.
Well, thankfully, Chris isn't dropping the whole open source software disc idea all together, there was some issues with Canonical. So, Chris has started a new project I believe just by himself over at TheOpenDisc.com. The site's looking great, much better than the last (you can read about those issues in the article below).
Chris explains all the reasons for dropping the project over here. Is also tells about the new project, issues with Canonical, etc.
Check it out. I believe the list my have to be updated a tad as I don't think Dia was on the OpenCD, which I may make portable, I haven't read a lot of posts about it here.
Hopefully Disc Tree may be released now, although in an e-mail to Chris about half a year ago, he said it was a Canonical project and they were putting some more work into it (i think). The SourceForge page for that is still empty, and it looks like the lead is the original developer of the OpenCD.
Anywho, that's all. Enjoy.
With my above comment, there are the updates that need to be made.
P.S. Ryan, check out the logo he has for Scribus, better?
Nice catch on that. I've updated to the OpenDisc project. Before reading this comment, I did it myself
I have to say that all his reasons are completely valid. As I've heard, Canonical is a little hard to deal with.
Oh, and I might send him an email later about that icon.
"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate."
Guys,
I know it's not on the CD - but what about adding Portable GNUcash? I understand that IllusionofDemise has just about finished the beta's. The CD is missing a good financial app.
Regards,
Kim Wood
Kim
Added as part of the OpenDisc. Requires comment from IllusionOfDemise about whether he recompiles it.
"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate."
Kim: There is no "adding" GnuCash to the CD around here. GnuCash was added to the new OpenDisc project over on it's website. The point of this thread is to portablize all the apps from the disc that are possible (those requiring admin access or install something into the system itself won't be portablized).
Point being: it's already done...no need to request it. These guys just need to confirm some stuff with Illusion of Demise before moving forward.

Hey Ryan
Yes i would love for GnuCash to be added, i just used gnucash from the download on there website no recompile i just have it so that everything is handled by the launcher and not by gnucash.bat sorry for delay in responce i work alot but Kim Wood emailed me and told me to look
Check out the programs section of the OpenDisc site for a better logo. At first release when I saw it, the icon was shoddy.
regards to Abackt I wouldn't have thought that John'll do it as it is now discontinued. On a side note I'm hoping to make Toucan 2 feature equal to Abakt.
Has said he will probably remove it anyways. There's also Abakt 2. He may remove HealthMonitor as well because it now belongs to a commercial company, so there would be no updates. (Only a free version, I don't think it's open source)
