I am very new to thunderbird. I guess this program is kinda nice.
I use it with webmail plugin and using pop3. I tried to use IMAP with hotmail, but I can't make it work :).
I set the program to leave message on the server until I delete them, when I delete the mail from the program, the mail is still in the email server. I thought until I delete them meant when I delete them from the program not from the email server.
After googling, I found that some say edit the config mail.pop3.deletefromserveronmove to true. However, the mail is still in the email server.
I would like to know if there is any way to delete the mail from the server when I delete the mail from the program inbox? Thanks.
a checkbox for this.
Under server-settings, there is a checkbox for "keep messages on server" and 2 lines down there is one for" delete messages if I remove them from my inbox" Check both of them and it should work.
Maybe the names are a little different, cause I use the german version
“I can live with doubt and uncertainty and not knowing. I think it is much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers that might be wrong.” - Richard P. Feynman
"What about Love?" - "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate." - Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate
I only see one check box. What version you are using? I am using v2.0.0.6
What does your checkbox say?

I can see keep messages on server, then it has two check box. One is keeping it for how many days, the other one is until I delete them.
There is no check box for delete message if I remove them from my inbox. However I did edit the config mail.pop3.deletefromserveronmove to true.
I am using webmail plugin to check hotmail and pop3.
IMAP doesn't delete files on the server. If you want to delete the emails use POP3.
