Sync Deletes Files

Toucan-> Sync- Copy
If a user sets the Source path = destination path, Toucan will delete the files.

Error: Failed to modify times for C:\*path*\*file* (error 2: the system cannot find the file specified.)

Um,

so you are setting identical source and destinations? I'll put a check in 1.2 so this can't happen but why would you want to do that?

want?

Hi Steve-

I didn't *want* to. I thought I had set source to My Documents and set destination to \PortableApps\Documents. However, when all was said and done both paths were set to My Documents. I don't know if my screen hadn't refreshed and I thought I picked something that I really did not; (Virus scanning was hogging a lot of cpu cycles) or what.

I noticed another poster: (cyber - August 13, 2007 "Files Where Deleted") may or may not have had a similar experience. Thought I would let you know.

Sean

Ah

right, no problem, I'll put a check into the next version so it can't happen again Smile (Indeed I did something similar just a minute ago when doing some testing, not realising that I was using the copy of Toucan on my hard disk I set it backing up the @drive@ variable, only to come back half an hour later and realise it was trying to back up my entire C drive with all of it's 35GB of data! ;), I can tell you the hard disk was starting to get quite loud!)
