Development Test 1 (2007-09-03):
Thanks,

I'll have to try it out.
There are 10 types of people in the world.
Those who understand Binary
and Those who don't
Too many lonely hearts in the real world
Too many bridges you can burn
Too many tables you can't turn
Don't wanna live my life in the real world
Chances are that this will be noted in the readme file (as I'll install this on my thumbdrive later), but I have to ask.
Which version of the game is this designed for?
I only ask because I know there's at least 2 (definitely more) versions of this game available online, each with a different method of registration.
Additionally, some sites (like Pop Cap) occasionally have their games "phone home" to ensure that users aren't sharing their registration data with others. Since each computer that you use will have different specs, it's likely going to trigger flags with registration servers...
With the portable system you design be able to handle this without piss off the company you purchased it from & the consumer?

There is to my knowledge only one version of insaniquarium exist and that version is v1.0 which is here. (and no I didn't include the version number in the package but I did in thisw post title)
And also my recommendation is to do the registration on the original computer you installed it on BEFORE you copy it to your usb drive. As that is what I did and it seems to work fine. It has not stopped working or anything.
And also about the "phoning home" I would think if you had a remotly good firewall the program would not be able to do that unless it got permission from you.

"Claiming that your operating system is the best in the world because more people use it is like saying McDonalds makes the best food in the world..."
I was just wondering if someone could help me create a professional installer like the ones John Haller uses for all the ones released on PortableApps.com. Either email from the one up in the first post or you could contact me via xfire (my username is bensawsome).
Unless it is not allowed by John. If it isn't tell me please.

I just tested this at my local library & it failed to launch due to "Administrative Rights". They have their computers locked up to prevent the stupid kids from downloading & installing stuff onto their computers.
As for the version issue that I brought up before. Here's a few sites that have their own version of Insaniquarium... to name a few...
PopCap (Original Source) -- http://www.popcap.com/games/insaniquarium
GameHouse -- http://www.gamehouse.com/gamedetails/?game=Insaniquar&navpage=downloadgames
Yahoo! Games -- http://get.games.yahoo.com/proddesc?gamekey=insaniquarium
Each of them have a different registration method.
ADDITIONALLY, some computers that others may use DO NOT HAVE A FIREWALL INSTALLED! Therefore, if the game chooses to "call home" on one of those computers, it'll be done without the user noticing & cause registration issues between the portable & non-portable versions with the registration server, causing problems with both versions as the registration server will see the tech specs of more than one computer with the same registration.

Yes it requires Admin rights because it needs to right registry entries.

Wow. That is amazing. But unfortunately this only works with the popcap version. Sorry.

Windows has a built in firewall.

So you can't catch apps that phone home, only prevent incoming attacks.

As all of ya should know Micro$oft is the Evil Empire, and Windows (a.k.a. Winblows or Windoze) is their greatest general, so please make a difference and install Linux or FreeBSD on yer Windows comp.
Really? Oh I always thought it was bi-directional because it always asked me whether or not to give various programs access to the internet (including my installed Insaniquarium)

I think it is mostly asking about apps that want to listen for incoming connections, rather than apps that want to make an outgoing connection.

I've got a mouse clicker that works in this game Here. I'm planning on putting out 08 soon, maybe a week or so.
