Sounds like you have the calender set for the wrong time zone.
If you go into the Thunderbird options window, and click on the lightning icon at the top (lightning is the name of the calender plug in) there is a timezone tab.
The calendar plugin is dead and no longer supported.
If you mean Lightning, ask over at mozillaZine as this is not a 'portable' question.
