Does anyone know where I can still get OOo 2.1?

I run 2.1 portably and will continue to do so until 3.0 is available, because there are simply too many bugs and instabilities in 2.2.1 for my purposes.

But something is screwy with Writer all of a sudden---it won't open files and thinks everything needs to be recovered, and wants me to choose a file filter--- so, after testing with a standard installation of 2.2.1 to make sure there was nothing actually wrong with the files, it appears that I need a fresh copy of the portable version.

I see that older versions are not available through the PortableApps site (or at least, not where I could find them) and I searched SourceForge.net and the Internet without luck. (SourceForge returned over 1500 hits and I searched the first ten pages or so, but with no luck... and most of those had nothing to do with the application itself.)

If you can point me to a 2.1 download, I'd be deeply grateful.

Cheers!

OOP Homepage

Just click the SourceForge icon on the OpenOffice.org Portable homepage. Then go to downloads. They're all there.

Keep in mind 2.1 is completely unsupported now.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks, heh

I had looked and looked and looked at that OpenOffice page, thinking there should be something like that on it, and never saw that sourceforge.net thing, and almost didn't find it even after you told me it was there so I knew to look for it. (Well, it's so tiny, and at the bottom of the page, and I only saw the list of download details so I never noticed that little sourceforge.net off to the right, LOL.)

Thanks for the kind reply!

I'm not so worried about support for the portable app; most of my concerns about OpenOffice are addressed either in the OOo documentation or on oooforum.com. Here's hoping for great improvement in OOo 3.0 and a quick Biggrin conversion to portability.

Hmmm... still a problem....

The OpenOffice.org 2.1 source version is there, but not the portable... the portables skip from 2.0.4 to 2.2.1.

Is it possible to use the source to refresh my current portable installation, or would I need a compiler (and a little know-how) that I don't have?

Cheers!
