I did do a search for this, and there was a couple of requests already (one from august 06, and one from march 07), but I thought I would bring it up again since I seen a few people requesting accounting software recently.
it's an open source personal finance software. according to the sourceforge page it's written in c++

Left reg entries all over my comp, and he never worked to fix the launchers. As well, John had to talk to him before he began giving credit for the original launcher source.

It looks like it might make a good choice for straight forward accounting software.
From what I understand of the feature list (and screen shots) for Money Manager Ex though, it's trying to be a Quicken or MS Money clone. I can see how that might be appealing to some people as well.
