Anyone make a Lego Factory portable?

At factory.lego.com you can download program to work with Legos to make custom creations, which eventually you can buy just those blocks to make. I've downloaded the program and can run it from my usb key, but it always makes a folder in "My Documents" as the default place to save your models. I manually go to the folders on my usb key to save it.

I was just wondering if anyone else has tried to make this a portable app.

I've emailed the folks at Lego to ask if the program is open-source, and if it can be modified to change the default save location, but there hasn't been a reply yet.

Try Jaunt PE. Do a search

Try Jaunt PE. Do a search of the boards for the download location for it. I cannot remember where I got it from.

thanks

I forgot about it. I'll give it a try. I got an email back from lego.com, and they didn't answer specifically if it was open source or not, but they did say that it wasn't intended for users to change it. Sort of seems that if I got permission, I could. But that's fine, it works fine from my usb key, which is all I really ever wanted. It was just that the default saving directory was always created in the "My Documents" of whatever computer I was at, and I wanted the default to be on my usb key. Everything else about it worked perfectly.

Well,

I'd like it. Sorta like Autocad for people who don't want to mess
around with it all.

3d lego bricks, zoom in and out, switch the viewpoint, whoa. And its all free folks.

Hmmm...

You "could" open the .exe-File with a Hex-Editor and search for the hexvalue: 50FF1568815F .
Then you "could" change the first "5" into a "0" and save this value.

But I don't know if this would be legal Wink

Link -cause I'm gonna add a comment

http://ldd.lego.com/download/

I have not tried this version- but on the old one, you could install it and it would worked fine- even if you didn't have all the stuff that it wanted- in fact several computers that I tried it would n't like the install- but ran fine.

Also, It will run from a flash. Not sure about portability.

portability

I've looked for some registryentries but i havn't found one yet.

And when you fix the .exe-File with a Hex-Editor (like described) there is nothing left on the Host-Pc (or does anyone know better ?).

So I think it's portabel.
