Time to load/restart = 3-5 minutes

I love FF, but it can take up to a minute for it to load. Now that I've started to use PFF (1.5 as well), it is taking way too long to load. First several time I thought it was stuck, and used Task Manager to stop End Task.

Why is it taking so long to load? Both FF & PFF.

Thanks

Extensions + Drive

Sounds like it's a combination of the extensions you have installed and your drive speed. Try a base install of PFF running locally (unzip it to your desktop) and start it up. See how long it takes.

It can also be memory issues and spyware/viruses on your PC itself.

Info..

I use FF 1.5 on 3 PC's, and the delay is constant.

I do have ~35 extensions installed.

For PFF I have a SanDisk MiniCruzer, which is USB 2.0 compliant. My P4 WinXP laptop always tells me my connection could be faster (my laptop is only 1.1 compliant?)

I have MS AntiSpyware running on all my PC's, with Antivirus software on each.

While I was typing this, I was waiting for a restart of PFF 1.5 after using MR Tech Local Intall to load 30 of my 25 of my 30 extensions. Took about 13 minutes before PFF was back up.

But....

I just did two restarts (after all my extensioned were installed) and it took only a minute (about as long as FF).

So...

So the extra long restarts must have to do with the installation of new extentions for the first time.

Still am dang curious as to way FF takes time like it does.

Extensions + USB 1.1

USB 1.1 is like death for performance of portable apps. And if your laptop says it "could be faster" it's 1.1 only.

Additionall, many extensions slow down startup. Moreso with Portable Firefox. The more extensions, the slower it gets. And 35 is A LOT.

Also, as you notcied, first restart after installing an extensions is slower. The extension finishes installing on Firefox's next start... not when you install it or shut FF down.

Like I said... try a FRESH copy of Portable Firefox without your profile. Unzip it to your desktop. And just run it. See how quickly it starts.
