I know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous.
I know both Patrick and Ryan have offered help so I thought I would set up a separate forum topic for CDisplayEx.
What: "CDisplayEx is a Comic reader based on CDisplay. It use the popular 7-zip plugins to read many archives types like cbr cbz cbt rar zip tar 7z lzh arj cab tar.gz tar.bz2. It supports jpeg png gif and bmp images."
Where: CDisplayEx
Size: Just over 1Mb.
Registry: None.
If you copy all of the files into a single folder, delete the two uninstall files, then it actually works very well portably. It uses a single xml file for the settings.
I am lost when it comes to launchers and installers. I would love to learn. I might even give the Portable Application Template a try.
Patrick and/or Ryan you are welcome to give this a go.
Patrick, Ryan has already made a nsi for this.

I've uploaded it to my server. Kevin, all you need to do is add the splash and icon to compile. Also, make sure you add documentation and the app should be stored under App\cdisplayex\

I think the NSIS Plugin can only handle jpeg. (I think) But I think Ryan said there might be a way to set your own colour for transparency in the splashes. It would look cool if it was a PNG.

Not sure. I think multisize might work best. Does the PAM care? I don't think it does. It would look best for those who use different setups on their file folders.

when you set it as program icon the multisize is ok, but for good measure i put a 16x16, 24x24 and 32x32 version on it

may i recommend including a 48x48 in the multisize as well? most newer apps that i have seen will include 48px and leave out the 24px

Did you want me to do it? Or was Ryan going to? Cause you said the settings are self-contained, and I think I checked too, but I forget now, it's on my desktop.
But I can either do it for you, or help you out with doing it yourself, all you need to compile are the splash and icon, yes.
Edit: Just read the post, so Ryan's done an NSI? Was he going to compile it?

I can setup the xml file for default. I have looked at it and I think I have found how to make it come up in windowed mode first. I will take the one I am using on my flash drive and modify it. I will upload it when I am finished.
I do not know how to separate the app and the data and get the app to look in the data folder for settings. Is that what the nsi is for?

In a zip file with a script. Sound like the screen cap would take too long and be too big of a file for easy use.
Suggestion for future use: Maybe a youtube screen cap of how to do this. I just watched one on foola. It basically walked through install and features.

I can't seem to find it anywhere. I found an SVN repository on the sourceforge.net site. Is that possibly the source files?

I found the developers email. I asked about the source and any assistance he could provide. I would think that would be a basic requirement of sourceforge.

1 - install TortoiseSVN: http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads
2 - create a folder named cdisplayex for example.
3 - right click on the folder and select "SVN Checkout"
4 - paste this url in the edit control
https://cdisplayex.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/cdisplayex/trunk
5 - click ok
6 - accept certificate ...
CDisplayEx is portable as is, excepted for CDispShell.dll, because it is a plugin for explorer (thumbs), so this file is not needed.

We are trying to set up the format so that the settings can be backed up with the Portable Application Menu. It needs to be in a certain format.
