Would it be possible to get a U3 compatible version of the portable apps here, such as portableNVU and sunbird? I have the portable version of them running already, but it would be nice to have them running within the U3 interface.

PFX is already U3 compatible... aren't others compatible too?

Portable Firefox is the only one packaged as a U3 compatible application.
I did OO.o for U3 already (it's on software central) and TB for U3 is in QA testing now. The other apps are still a bit up in the air. When I know more, I'll post about it.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Sorry, I forgot that you also released OO.o That and FireFox were the first two apps I loaded on my U3 drive. I'm just hoping for a U3 NVU. I've been trying to package my own to try it, but it doesn't seem to be working very well.
Well, the thing is I think your versions of FF for U3 are the best out there, so naturally I've been questioning myself if you're going to release it??
Please try to! because if not I'll be stuck with 1.5.0.0 forever, because I don't really like the yourbrainz version.
Best regards,
I am using PFF 1.5.0.3 U3 by John Haller.
I have gone through 3 updates since installing 2 months ago. Works great, no issues.
Steps:
1. Help
2. Check for updates
3. Follow the update prompts from there.
After updating, FF will ask you to restart.
Note: if the update fails the first time, let FF do the full download update. this also works just fine.

Did the trick... it worked correctly and I'm now running on FF 1.5.0.3
Could you tell me if there is a version of Thunderbird for U3 by John T. Haller, once again I tried the Yourbrainz version, and personally I think it's crap.
Thanks again
Sorry no.
I use John's PTB:

Be sure to read the tips and known issues section.
I also use Pstart to launch PTB an my other apps:

I'll do that... I'll couple it with a U3 mod of PStart...
I'm sure it'll work just fine...
What is the difference between the two versions? John's and Yourbrainz..
