I suggest to you add my video database application - Personal Video Database (current version 0.9.6) to your collection.
Some interesting features for portable apps users:
-Uses .ini file to save configuration
-Multi language (English, Dutch, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish are currently available)
-Unicode support
-Uses relative paths
More information about the program can be found here: http://www.videodb.info

As all of ya should know Micro$oft is the Evil Empire, and Windows (a.k.a. Winblows or Windoze) is their greatest general, so please make a difference and install Linux or FreeBSD on yer Windows comp.
No, it's not open source, but completely free.
They ask if it is open source because that is primarily the type of programs that advocated here on portableapps.com
"... respect, all good works are not done by only good folk. For here, at the end of all things, we shall do what needs to be done."
Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.
I do not see any point of making such a small app open source.
There is no need in more than one developer and I am trying to implement most of the features requested by users.
Users can also develop their own plugins. Source codes of existing plugins and an SDK are available.
we cant host non-open source apps here.
And self promoting Apps isnt allowed either.
But maybe someone can make a portable version of your program and you can host it at your site. I'll take a look at it over the weekend...

Oh, sorry, I did not realized that only open source apps are hosted here.
There is no need to make a portable version of it, because it already is (if you start the program with -portable command line parameter or with portable.bat included in the package).
It was only a suggestion. If my program do not pass the rules here, this topic can be ignored.
about the -portable switch.
I am currently trying several Movie Database proggys and am happy to have another candidate.

Cool, I am glad, I could help someone with my app or made more choice available
Find someone who asked, then post it as a reply. I think that's legal.

Would Ant Movie Catalog be an acceptable alternative?
it's an open source alternative (licensed under GNU General Public License).
Here's a list of features from their web site:

* Can store catalog in two file format: its own binary format or XML
* Import information from Internet (using scripts); by default it includes scripts for IMDB (US), DVDFR (FR), Allociné (FR), Culturalia (ES), and lots of others
* User-customizable links to do a search on movie websites
* Information importation from various media files (audio & video codec, bitrates, resolution, framerate, size)
* Scripting technology, using Object Pascal language, allowing to modify catalog: Find & replace, moving field values, ...
* Printing, using customizable templates
* Export to other formats: HTML (based on a template that you can modify or create yourself), SQL commands (to re-import data in a DBMS such as MySQL), CSV (text files, can be used as tables with Microsft Excel for example), Origons.com
* Import from other formats: CSV (Microsoft Excel can create such files, but a plain text file can be used too), Divx Manager, BaseDVDivx, Origons.com
* Can store pictures inside catalog or link to external files (recommended for large pictures)

* Tested successfuly under Windows 95 & 98 (with some updates), Windows NT4 Workstation (SP4 required), Windows 2000 and Windows XP. For Vista, the version 3.5.1 beta is required for optimal working.
here's the website: http://www.antp.be/software/moviecatalog

I have been using Med's Movie Manager for a few years now and love it. Another advantage is that it's Java based and runs on any Java enabled machine (I use it on my Windows PC and my Mac) - and yes, it.s open source.
http://xmm.sourceforge.net/
And it's Java. And it's Java. u said it your self. Java Apps won't be supported until portable Java issues is sort out. Until then we can't do any thing about it.
