File Associations

One thing that would be nice for portable openoffice is file associations. Currently the only way to get them is to either use the full installer or by manually adding them using folder options.

Maybe a switch can be added to PortableOpenOffice*****.exe that registers it as the default program for its respective filetypes or an option in the ini to enable/disabled a check on startup?

or if someone knows a way to associate the filetypes by cmd that would be great.

for now i just drag and drop the file i want to open on the shortcuts i made.

OpenOffice should really add a file associations check box in its options panel. Smile

Sorry, but this is exactly what a portable version should NOT do.
As is would leave traces on the system.
If you want to use it with extensions on that machine, why dont you just install the full version ?

i completely understand and

i completely understand and agree with you. I was only curious if there was a way to make a cmd/bat file to associate the program with certain filetypes.

Its not a big issue though, i just drag and drop the files i wish to open onto a shortcut to openoffice or on the open program window.
