portableapps.com auto update?

would it not be a good idea to have an auto update feature in portable apps launcher. (apart from for FF obviously)

I know this would be handy for me, and it could be done only for the official portable apps that appear here! at least something that tells you which ones are out of date.
auto updater would be even better, even if it just downloaded and ran the installers (for portables) in sequence.

i did search but couldnt find anything on the forum about the prospect of this

ideas?

Coming soon to your PAM...

PortableApps Auto Update is currently in the making. The way it will work (we hope) is that based on the AppInfo.inf of the app, the PAM will search the PortableApps.com database for an update.

I think it would be better if there

would be an app that downloads an .ini file (each time the app is launched), reads it and compares the version number against the one in the appinfo.ini s, then updates the apps by downloading (a new version‘s file stated in the downloaded .ini) and installing the new version.

.

Yep, that's what it will do. I've even written functional code to that point in NSIS. Since there's probably going to be no more development on it, here's the source:

Will there be...

an option to not use the "PAM Auto Update" tool?
On my home PC (and a few other PCs I use) there isn't always an internet connection avaliable, so a disable auto updates feature would be nice.
