Sumatra leaves trail of .pdf's in Recent documents

SORRY, I know I'm posting this a 2nd time, but by mistake I posted it the 1st time as the 000th entry in an existing thread. Don't want it to get lost. Apols if I'be broken etiquette.
Fergus
Message follows:
Start Sumatra on a host computer and view one or more .pdf's; then close Sumatra; unfortunately you will find that the visited documents have an entry in Recent Documents (ie in Start -> Documents) on the host. In other words a trail is left on the host computer: not quite "portable"?
Any chance of seeing to this?
(Visited OpenOffice documents are not registered in Recent Documents: this seems to me to be ideal "portable" behaviour. But I haven't done a forensic scrutiny of all PortableApps to see what the normal/ majority behaviour is: I'm just describing a preferred behaviour ...)
Thank you.
Fergus

I may not be Ryan...

But I might have an answer. I'm pretty sure it can be done, but you would have to modify the registry, which defies the meaning of portability.

Nope

It's built into the program itself.

Oops

I guess I was wrong. I'd trust Ryan over me any day.

You have to do is delete a

You have to do is delete a file from "%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items" (on vista). The hard part is figuring out what should be deleted.

You could just...

...delete it all!!!

Or better yet, take a screenshot before then comepare the screenshot with the open window after the pdf is opened and closed. You could find it then. (Personally, I'd go with the delete it all method!)

Or we could create an app!

I'll call it Private Data Eraser Portable. And I will be the project head!

Seems you are just a bit late...

...over 3 months late. (Although the Private Data Eraser Portable is a good idea, I'd use it. You could probably mod the code for Eraser or Eraser Portable and get the desired results.)
