Hey I'm just wondering if there is a way to make it so the portable apps menu automatically launches as the drive is detected, without a window popping up or anything? I've looked at the auto-play features but can't find anything.

That would require some software being installed on the PC and thus breaking portability.

This is what I did to get my portable apps to launch on USB insert. Why don't you try it and let me know how it goes, since I repeatedly answer this question, and everyone repeatedly says it can't be done. But I've done it on two XP Machines and it worked on both. Without installing additional software!
