When I click the download button on the Notepad++, I get a file with no extention and no clue on what to use to open it.
for example: download_7
(Using Firefox 1.5 and Download Accelerator plus)
Am I missing something here?

Download it without download accelerator.
And switch to Firefox 2.x ASAP. 1.5 is dead and has known security issues that will not be fixed.

Thanks. About 30 minutes after I posted it occurred to me that the Download Accelerator might be the problem. Sure enough it was, but then I couldn't get back to a computer until now to share that news.
Thanks for the reminder about updating FF. I did that on this one some time ago but not on all my computers and I had forgotten that.
