Portable Open Office on a Network!

I would like to be able to use Open Office on a School network, the company who manage our network do not really like Open Office, (RM still being part owned by Microsoft). I have installed the portable office apps to a network drive and I would like to be able to create a settings folder on individual users user areas, (not specfic machines), I have spent many hours so far resetting paths etc to point to this new folder, but I am being defeated by several files that insist on going back to the original network drive (read only for the students).

Can anyone help please?

Many Thanks

Bootstrap.ini

Try to edit the line "UserInstallation" in the "bootstrap.ini" (in the "program" directory) like that:

UserInstallation=$SYSUSERCONFIG/OpenOffice.org2

Bootstrap Ini

I have tried this approach, however as soon as I run the portable app loaders the bootstrap.ini file is overwritten with the original default settings.

I have set the file to Read only and this stops the apps running altogether.

Any more suggestions would be gratefully recieved!!

Run "soffice.exe"

The portable launcher rewrites the bootstrap.ini, so, you must directly launch the main program: "soffice.exe"

Thanks

Thats for this I found this about 2 hours before you replied, thanks anyway though!

Do you know of a way to use system variables to be able to set the paths for the Gallery etc. (The idea being to set different galleries for different users, and this being set by logon scripts which can set system variables on the fly).
