Custom splash screen not working

In an effort to further integrate Portable Firefox with my OS theme, I made my own splashscreen by modifying the original located here:

/portablefirefoxcode/PortableFirefox.jpg.

Unfortunately it doesn't work. The new one is the same dimension, color depth, format, etc. as the original; but everytime I launch I see the original splashscreen.

I searched through all the directories and I couldn't find where in the heck it was still getting the original splashscreen from (It was deleted after I backed it up on the local HD).

Weird.

Anyone?

You have to recompile...

You have to actually recompile the launcher. The jpg is included there as part of the source.

Than what?

It's a quick INI change. About as simple as I can make it.

Read the readme.txt

It gives you ALL the details. It's in the exact same directory as the sample INI.

To disable splash screen

To disable splash screen goto:

"\Portable Firefox\PortableFirefoxCode\"
open
"PortableFirefox.ini"
set
"DisableSplashScreen=true" (and close it;)
copy
"PortableFirefox.ini"
to
"\Portable Firefox\" (where the "PortableFirefox.exe" is),
done.

Same works with Portable Thunderbird

If you drive letter is the same on the different computers you are using PFF, you could install the exention called Splash! which will automaticly set you up with a way of setting a custom splash screen and even a welcome sound!

You could download it at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2995/

I hope that helps!

Actually

You can put it in a certain directory and then use a chrome:// URI.
Also, please don't resurrect old topics. (This one was started almost a year ago!)
