Hello everyone, i had just got my 8 gig memory stick today specifically for portable apps. I installed the standard version today but the menu would not load. So i installed the base version and decided to build off of that.
I installed pidgen and open office immediately after i installed base, and when i did so i unplugged the device and pluged it back in to make sure it worked properly, and it did.
So i decide to keep installing more apps... But to my surprise, they would load, and not run properly. Meh, ill try re-plugging. I pull up the menu and thier not there. I redownloaded the apps and it did the same thing.
Note that pidgen and open office run perfectly from the first time i installed....
I think this may be a writing error...but im not sure, if anyone would help please do.
thanks
Could you give some more detail? What brand flash drive do you have? What do you have your drive formatted in? Did you safely remove? It is most likely a writing error if you re-downloaded and you are getting the same results.

My flash drive is generic, i bought it off of ebay.
I belive its formatted in FAT32
and yea i safely removed it...any ideas?
Generic? Not good. NEVER buy a flash drive off of Ebay except from trusted buyers, which I hope you did. Was there a brand name (SanDisk, Corsair, Kingston, etc.)? If not, I'm afraid I think it's your flash drive.

Try copying a Word document or something to it and see if it stays.

It does, i've reformatted it, and now it SEEMS to be installing fine, even after i unplugged it a few times. Lets see how this goes.
While you're at it, I'd format it with NTFS or FAT, not FAT32.

Whats wrong with FAT32?

Kind of slow and buggy (that I've noticed). Other stuff that I can't remember right now (Google FAT vs FAT32).

if you suggest that i do that i probably will but i dont think i have a software that does NTFS, unless you can reccomend one, ive been using the generic windows formatter.
but I recommend using convert.exe so you can use the no security parameter (you will have to search for John's reply on one of the many fs threads to find out said parameter (using the no security parameter I believe will allow compatibility with Mac OSX and Linux and other OSes that don't have the NTFS3G driver)
Use the HP USB Format Tool.

i had the same thing happen again..it seemed like it happend right after i installed Open Office... error trying to format both NSFT and FAT... :/
Hmmm. I wouldn't bet money on it, but I think that it's a drive issue. Just tinker with it until it seems to work is the best I can give you right now .
