Can PTB still read RSS?

I just started using Portable Thunderbird 1.5 and I love it. There are, obviously, a few quirks, but that's to be expected.

One, for instance, is that it doesn't seem to read RSS. It wont download the any new articles headers for some reason.

It this a known issue with all the portable Thunderbirds?

Yup

Just downloaded a fresh copy and had it bring up the PortableApps.com feed. Works just as expected.

It could be the feed itself you're trying to read. Test it with another reader... like Sage in Firefox.

My mistake!

For some reason, when I copied over my profile to my portable drive, it didn't save my rss subscriptions! It saved the folders and the articles for all the news feeds, but didn't save the location in which to download the rss file. Oops.

Thanks for the quick response!

Really?

Hmm... I'll have a look at that and see if there is something I can do in the launcher to handle this.

Regards,
John

It was most likely something I did...

Okay, so here's the thing. In using Thunderbird on my desktop, I decided to move the profile and storage areas so they were easier to find and backup (mistake #1). When I installed PTB, I had some trouble moving mail and profile (which were now .. somewhat separated) to my usb drive.

What I ended up having to do was, in my desktop Thunderbird, move the profile and mail BACK to the original area. This was more of a pain than planned because Thunderbird doesn't move the data when you change it (like Outlook Express' Store Folder). It turned out being a huge ordeal that I would rather not go through again. This is why I will never again move my profile Wink

Also, PTB seemed only to recoginize the profile if it was set up the original way Thunderbird sets it up.

It's all in the learning experience. Smile
