I'm posting this here and not on the support forum because all I want to do is to flag a compatibility problem between a portable launcher and a network drive.
I'm trying to run notepad++portable from a mapped network drive, and the launcher basically silently quits almost immediately. notepad++ itself isn't even started. What's a bit special about the network drive is that it resides on an sftp server and it's mapped using sftpdrive (.com). I can run IcoFX portable from the same drive, so I know that some level of compatibility exists between portable launchers and sftp drives.
What about other real portable apps from here (IcoFX isn't from here, isn't supported)... do they work? If not, then it's just not gonna work.

errors:
popup: KompoZer.exe was not found. Please check your configuration
Notepad++Portable.exe silently dies
OpenOfficePortable.exe silently dies
OpenOfficeCalcPortable.exe ditto
PuttyPortable.exe ditto (taskmanager shows reg.exe being run and closed)
popup: Thunderbird.exe was not found. Please check your configuration
FireFox works! but it's mighty slow. It starts with none of my add-ons, bookmarks are there though.
I just went back and re-read that you're using an FTP linker to create a fake network drive. That won't work. While it will work for copying files on and off (it can queue them up and transfer them as needed), it won't work for things like applications which need fast, simultaneous access to multiple files.

IcoFX Portable doesn't even have a portable launcher. It is just another version of the main program that writes the settings to the exe's directory instead of where the non-portable version stores its settings. (Meaning that IcoFX Portable Edition is just a stand-alone portable version of IcoFX.)
I hope this will help you a little in understanding why IcoFX Portable works on the sftp networked drive while Notepad++ Portable won't.
