The download should be complete

When you download the current update, it includes all the files you need to get going, even TrueCrypt.

Are you having some particular problem with the current download?

0.8.5.2 - Adds support for Computer based autorun settings

If you need to have a different set of applications run on a given PC or PCs, you can create custom files per PC. This is not supported through the GUI, you'll have to tweak this by hand.

Create a file named autorun.COMPUTERNAME.lst in the root of your encrypted (or non-encrypted if you don't use TC) drive, and that will be run, rather than the autorun.lst file when starting the menu on a computer with the name COMPUTERNAME.

So if you leave autorun.lst

So if you leave autorun.lst blank it won't autorun anything on an unknown computer?

Yes

If there is a blank autorun.lst, nothing will run on computers that you haven't created a custom autorun for.

Or you can choose a limited set of applications to run on unknown computers.

Apps directory is not include...

in the zip file so the default settings can't be found if this is a new install.

Not sure what you're looking for...

The default settings, such as they are, don't require an Apps directory to be found. Geek.menu should run just fine on an otherwise empty device (granted there won't be any applications installed).

You'll need to either install the PortableApps suite of your choice, or install your choice of applications one by one on the Portable Drive.

Does that address your problem? Otherwise, if you could try to be a little more specific, I'll take another look. Thanks.

Now the Task is started but i can't see any window ....

Very good, very powerful,

Very good, very powerful, thank you!
but
1. The icon don't display in tray immediately when starting the program.
2. If application icon is hided, how to make it display again (not just show it temporarily)?
3. There is an option in PortableApps mod R30 - "load apps from DB". if it is selected, the menu would be load much faster!
4. Second-level directory will be helpful;
5. Add right click option "explor here", "rename", "move up/down" will also be helpful;

thanks

1) Nope, theme loading, etc does take time. The load speed has decreased substantially with the threading model now used, but load speed is still impacted by some of the options available (especially mounting a TrueCrypt volume).
2) Assign it to the category "No Category"
3) A similar option is available for geek.menu (Accelerate menu by loading apps from file).
4) I actually expected that to be a big issue, but you're the first to request it. For now, that will be something I will consider after getting v1 out if there is enough demand.
5) Similarly, there will be more control over individual icons in the future, but not in v1.

Nope

that's intentional- themes have moved, but it does cause the problem described above (the background top bitmap is not loading from the theme directory)

0.8.5.3 Fixing top menu bitmap error

Also snuck in is a new version of geekEjector, which lets you define a timeout delay for waiting for TrueCrypt to dismount- the default is 5000 (5 seconds).

Options menu

When you click the options button, "Theme" and "Icon Theme" are 2 of the options.

Almost Perfect - one dialog box error and an enhancement request

I just got around to updating to 0.8.5.3; this is most certainly the best release yet! I love the new shortcuts feature. However, I do wish I could choose the name for the shortcuts myself instead of having Geek.menu extract the product name from the application. For example, the official "Product Name" of notepad.exe is "Microsoft® Windows® Operating System" and this is what shows up in my menu instead of Notepad which is the official "Internal Name". Even better, allow geek.menu to extract the product name for all portable apps and shortcut apps, but also allow people to right-click and rename just like we can right-click and hide the apps.

I also noticed one small glitch with a dialog box. In the advanced options main tab with no computers in the approved list, if you select the option called "Display Owner Info and Run Menu from Unencrypted Drive," you will get a popup dialog box. Unfortunately, I think the dialog box text is on the title line and the title is in the dialog box itself. For example, the title of the dialog box is "You have selected a restrictive method on unknown computers. . .," but the message IN the dialog box itself is just "geek.menu". I suspect that those two values for this dialog box should actually be switched around.

RE: Almost Perfect

The Product Name thing is an annoyance, but it's going to be an enhancement to a future version, not 1.0. In the meantime, it is actually possible to do this by turning on accelerate menu loading and editing the applicationList file (the annoyance with this method is that you'll have to make the same edit each time you install a new app)

Good catch with the dialog- I've posted a patch for that. There are no other changes, so for most users, it's probably not even worth the download.

Great... Really just great!!!

I love this one... I tried I think 2 other clones and/or forks but I think Im gonna stick on to this one for now...

Anyways, I love the way it can launch an app on startup... It solved my problem regarding rocketdock... and i do love the vista-ish theme... hope there'll be more to come...

Anyways, i have this itsy-bitsy-tiny little request...
Can you add a feature wherein the Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos folder paths be customized... I am using a disk w/ 2 partitions... [do take note that I also use Smith's PSU which is a life saver... (I love his works also)] The 1st one is for my installations/programs while the other is for the files... I separated it so I'll be able to do encrypting in it...

Using Rocket Dock I was able to make links to this partition using the PSU, now I would like to do the same to the launcher itself... hope you can help me...

Thank you very much!!!
^_^

Customized folder location

I'll probably implement customized folder locations as something that can be loaded in a locale file at some point in the future, but for now I'm trying hard to resist the urge to include new features. I need to get an installer written and then I'm hoping to get to a point where I can have a stable and an experimental version.

unencrypted drive

i know that truecrypt's volume is gives you ver good encryption. However if you are on an unauthorized computer or on a computer without admin privileges you could use this program.
FolderLocker
First time it runs it creates the folder.
if you can see the folder then if you run the program it will ask you if you want to hide the program.
If you cannot see the folder then it will prompt you for the password, which for this case is: 000000.
If you like it just post that you like and if you want to code I can post it.
Edit:It will create the folder in the same folder that the program is in.

Is this something you've written?

I'm generally not a fan of closed source security software. If you did write it, you may need to check the name- it seems like there is something out there called folderlocker (unless that's you).

That being said, I'm sure that someone could use this as an autorun program in the context of geek.menu to some effect, writing a batch file as your ejection script to close the folders.

I did the program as a batch file then made it to the exe.
I do not hav it now but i can put it on later
