I am currently using PortableApps.com Platform 1.1 Beta 4 and it is working great! I love the desktop swapper and other new features (personal picture, drag-able file menu, etc.)
I am aware that this is a beta version & can have some negative effects on my Portable Apps and documents. I was wondering:
1) With the new interface, are the apps still truly portable and secure? For example, does Firefox still leave no traces on host PC?
2) Will this beta version compromise my Firefox and other apps in a severe way (delete personal passwords, delete files from my documents folder and subfolders)?
3) Are there any major concerns that I should look out for? Would it be wise to wait for the official release?
I already referred to John's post about the beta version but these questions did not seem to be totally answered.
Thanks in advance!
Although marked a beta, this release could just as easily be marked as a stable release. It's just that a few more features are being added before the stable release.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
1) Everything is still fully portable. You simply updated the menu, which has nothing to do with Firefox's portability.
2) It shouldn't damage your apps or documents at all.
3) Watch out for gnomes, they're evil
