hi @ all,
this ist my first post. i wish all people a nice day.
here my problem.
when i open with portablesunbird a calendar file, that ist on my usb-drive (drive-letter: t:\) i see all dates. but when i use sunbird on an other computer (drive-letter: x:\) i can't see my dates. i know the problem. sunbird search the calendaer files at t:\... but the usb-drive is mounted with x:\. but what can i do? it's posible to import the ics-files, but it takes every time a long time. thanx

Don't Specify

When you create a calendar in Sunbird, you should let it create the calendar in the default location. It does so within the profile and doesn't use a drive letter. If you create it elsewhere on the drive, it won't work when you switch PCs.

Ah ok

Hmm. Do you know if the ICS file itself is hard-coded to a specific location? How are you opening it?

Created?

By "created the file" you mean exported, right? Since, by default, Sunbird keeps all calendars internally, not in ICS files.

Please list the exact steps you used.

at first i export the calendar at my pc to an ics-file. this ics file i copy to the usb-drive (t:\calendar). then i start sunbird portable, go to file->open calendar-file und select t:\calendar\xxx.ics. then the calendar ist in sunbird. but when i take the stick home and mount it at home as x:\ (i start sundbird from the stick) then no dates are in sunbird.
when i look at the proberties of the calendar, the path to the calendar shows t:\....

Ah

In that case, no, it won't work when you move PCs. Sunbird stores its pointers to ICS files in a binary file (sqlite database, actually) with full paths. So, when you move, they stop working.

Sunbird Portable is made to work with the built in calendars within it and be able to temporarily open local ICS files. You can either:
1. import it back into Sunbird and just use it from there like your other Sunbird calendars
2. publish it to a remote server and use it there
3. open it each time you run Sunbird Portable and close it when done
