Ditto, clipboard extension & manager

Hi,

I would like to add "Ditto", an open-source/freeware application that "saves each item placed on the clipboard allowing you access to any of those items at a later time" (from the website).
I've been using it for one or two years and don't know how I could have ever lived without it... Wink
There used to be a portable version that would only run from a U3 drive (:o), but now there's a regular portable version, too.

Website http://ditto-cp.sourceforge.net/

Hope you'll like it.

Thomas

PS: I'm new, so sorry if there's anything wrong about my post. I'm not sure this hasn't been posted before.

Sweet!

This sounds like a life saver! I'll check into it for you. If it's already portable, I can package it in the PortableApps.com Format and post it beta, because it sounds very handy.

Edit: Alright, everything looks everything is stored in Ditto.settings, so that's good. I'll check into it a bit more. The icon's a bit hideous, I'll look for something better.

Thanks for your help.

It claims to be portable and seems to work portably, but I'm not sure it doesn't do any of those tiny things that annoy the portability purists round here...
I agree that the icon (and the website) aren't exactly eye-candy, but other than that I can find no flaws with it.

Yea.

I'm just making sure it doesn't have of those issues, yea. If it doesn't, I'll have it packaged in the PortableApps.com Format within a week max,

Just wanted to ask

... if it's only life that got in the way, or is there anything wrong about this software after all? Smile

No, I was going to

But it creates a folder under C:\Documents And Settings\[CURRENTUSER]\ApplicationData titled "Ditto" with no settings when I looked, I think maybe the developer just left it their from an unportable version previous, I'll have another look.

It just seemed pointless that it created that folder to me, so I didn't bother. But I'll look again.

Update

Scott Brogden, the author, said he found what is causing the folder to be created and is going to correct it. He also invited people with ideas to contact him about the icon. His e-mail is available at http://sourceforge.net/users/sabrogden/. There's also a forum at http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=287510 .

Cool

When he gets that fixed I'll do up a version in the PAF.

Do you think it would be

Do you think it would be possible to make it so the program will start 'disconnected from the clipboard' or maybe have an option in an ini file to start it disconnected from the clipboard?

Probably yes, but...

... this is relating to the software in general rather than just its portable incarnation, so you'd better ask the original author:

New fully portable version available

It's been a long time coming, but there finally is a new version available that does not does not create any empty folder in the application data folder.
Here's the changelog: http://ditto-cp.sourceforge.net/#Change%20History
The new portable version can be downloaded here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=84084

I hope we can get this officially included - it would really make a useful addition to the PortableApps suite.

Nope

Not a freaking clue.

Maybe a piece of paper that when thru a paper shredder and was set of fire and later chewed up by a dog?

And yea, I'd appreciate that, just let me check into the program a bit more, it has so many features it might be too much. Blum

Oops, hadn't noticed

I guess I completely overlooked that. (Or probably thought it was a relic from my previous permanent installation of the program.) Anyway, this doesn't really seem to affect the portability in any way. I'm going to contact the original author about it some time soon.

Is this going to make onto the website?

This is a great piece of software and appears to work perfectly with the PortableApps suite but is it ever actually going to be featured on the site?

There is work being done on

There is work being done on it. I think the launcher just needs to be updated to the latest specs. I'll contact the person that should be doing the portable version. If he doesnt have time to finish it, i'll take it over.
