Portable Bookmarks Manager

I know that this has been posted before, and I have searched that thread. However, most of the responses are for Firefox's Bookmarks.html synchronisation.

Can someone recommend me a small bookmarks manager, just to hold URL, keywords, Properties and date and allows some searching. It should be able to export to some file (e.g. csv, txt, xml or html).

At present I am using PowerMarks and have to remember to export it to the thumbdrive before I leave for office the next day.

Thanks

Rodders

Portable Firefox built-in?

Is there something you're missing from Portable Firefox's built-in bookmarks? It allows for URL, keywords, description, allows searching. And it's stored in HTML by default. There are also a number of bookmarks-related extensions that enhance the functionality. Flat Bookmark Editing is quite popular with a few friends of mine.

Of course, if you aren't using Portable Firefox, the above is a bit moot. But nearly everyone using portable apps is using Portable Firefox.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Built-in Bookmarks...

Well, I do use Portable FF and FF normal, however, the way I keep my bookmarks end up with a hugh mess.

I've tried synchronizing and editing and cutting and pasting...but old habits die hard and I don't always use the USB version.
Also the bookmarks get longer and longer and messy....

At present I am using the Bookmarks Synchronizer 3, but man, after 1 heavy session looking up things, I find that I spend another 1/2 hr just organizing the stuff, so I'm just looking for an easy way out.

Does PowerMarks work for

Does PowerMarks work for you? If it does, it shouldn't be too hard to write an NSIS syncronizer specially for you (a future version could support INI files and let you change paths without recompiling).

Bookmark Syncronizer

Bookmark Syncronizer Firefox Extension syncronizes your bookmarks on an FTP server. Very nice for multiple installations of Portable Firefox.

I tend to use the Yahoo

I tend to use the Yahoo Companion Toolbar, all of your bookmarks are stored at http:\\bookmarks.yahoo.com and the toolbar syncs with that location.
The bookmarks menu has all of the features you would expect.

Only drawback is my current customer site has blocked access to the URL.

Bookmark Synchronizer

Even though the name is spelt wrong (who put a z in there??) it's a great extension.

I synchronise it with an area on my website. You can get a script for converting xbel.xml files into html files. I just converted it into a php file and then added a password to it. It's not particularly secure but it stops the casual browser reading them.

This means that even if I go to a cyber café that doesn't let me use memory sticks or to a company that doesn't let me use them I can still get my bookmarks online.

Never heard of that Yahoo thing before, may have a look at it...

"Synchronizer" is the correct American spelling. We Americans tend to put a Z in words like "initialize," "synchronize," and the like. So no, it's not spelled wrong from our standpoint. Smile The argument is the same as that for "color" versus "colour", etc.

I didn't think "grammer" was correct in any dialect...?

Yeah, but I thought the "*wink wink nudge nudge cough cough sneeze*" (okay, you don't get much more long-winded than that) was referring to the fact that everyone was correcting you for "grammer" a while back and you were actually suggesting it was correct.
