I keep getting an annoying message that reads: "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded." What is causing this and how do I get rid of it?

What URL are you trying to load?

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
Sounds like something automatically loaded, like maybe a home page or that sort of thing... s/he may not be able to see what URL is failing without some snooping.

The first time I use Firefox portable it works fine. If I close it down and start it again, from then on I get the message with every URL.
Try checking in Task Manager to make sure it closed down all the way. Occasionally on my machine it either takes a lot longer to close (after it no longer shows on the desktop) or gets stuck and never closes down. Not sure why that would cause the problem.
The other thing that comes to mind has to do with whether Firefox PE is running when you click on the URL. Firefox has to be running, perhaps minimized, or URL's that you click on might fail to run the Firefox Portable version, and try to run something else instead. Maybe that's where the message comes from.
(Hmm, that does sound like me saying "well don't close it down".)
