I'm looking for a small-as-possible lightweight Gecko-based browser with tabbed browsing support. (Ability to install the Adblock extension for Firefox would be nice... even if I have to copy JAR files around.)
Any ideas?

That's the smallest Windows Gecko browser. There are a couple portable versions of it. There are some builds with AdBlock, I believe.

Thanks... I tried out K-Meleon, but it doesn't quite do it for me -- I need portable bookmarks as well, but KM@ keeps interfering with Netscape bookmarks.
I like FF much better... time to clear things out!
On another note, is there a standalone adblocker I could use? (Like Adblock for Firefox, but a small app that sits in the system tray and blocks ads...)

You'd need to use it as a proxy or integrate it into IE for it to work... which isn't too portable.

I found something called SAB on TinyApps.org, which seems to act as a proxy.
It runs fine, but doesn't give me all the customization I want (i.e., blocking Goooooogle ads and other stuff in iFrames, and blocking specific images). Any ideas?

This was highly configurable, and had now browser windows at launch.
The downside is it comes with an installer and its 413 in the morning im not into testing right now.

Its portable by default which is good. It uses regular expressions which means that with a bit of tweaking, I think it might work with Filterset G on a first glance which you can get here. http://www.pierceive.com/ Im not sure though.
My self I just use portable firefox with Adblock and the Filterset.G updater.
By justin and me and anyone else. Doesn't look too hard because it already saves the profiles in a sub directory of itself.

It would be nice to have a singe OSS launcher that eliminated the four-flavour-confusion, though.
Wouldn't it be better to spend time on apps that aren't portable yet?

I just want to have a nice app that can be put into the mainstream by way of PortaSoft and PortableApps. It was something that I wanted to work on for a while too. Finally, would you have any current non-portable apps to suggest that we make portable?

Sure... I wish I had time to make them portable, but I don't get much time at a good computer...
- Microsoft PowerToy Calc and Convert (just need reg cleanup)
- Songbird (we need to start work on it, see what needs redirecting)

Powertoy Calc: No registry issues here. No settings to be saved. (This was just a thought, since I use it a lot.)
Songbird: I'm trying to work on this, but not much luck yet. Can you run File/RegMon and find out what settings are saved and where? (I need Power User access on the college computers to run either of those apps.)

Maybe we could just host them and bring this guy on to PortableApps, for me this websites become the symbol of quality for Portable Apping the releases are easy and the support community is fantastic so much so that it inspired me to become active in it.
The latest K-MeleonSM 1.0b5 and 1.0b6 (beta) versions can be easily configured to be totally portable without the need for any launcher. Pocket K-Meleon from http://kmeleon.uk.to is the compressed portable implementation currently recommended, and is very stable.
I'd like to do it anyway, so lets at least finish what we started rmccue.

That would be cool, but I'm not good with languages like C or C++ which is probably what you'd write it in.
