DSL Install tutorial on a USB Drive

Basically, is there a way to install DSL onto a flash drive so that you can use it as a bootable disc in addition to being able to navigate to the .bat file and running it from there?

Yes.

Just use dsl-embedded. Just make sure the drive is formatted as FAT/FAT32 if yo want to boot from it.

Hmmm...

In Qemu, I assume? Well, I really am not sure. How familiar are you with Qemu? You need to click inside of the window to get it to work.

Well, I've tried that.

Well, I've tried that.

Method 1's instructions are too unclear, and the application you're supposed to download for Method 2 is very slow, at 1-2KBps for a ~50 Megabyte file.

If you want that file and you live in the US...try here:

(Google is your friend)

EDIT: I just used Method 2 with the HP utility and it worked on the first try (meaning I was able to boot DSL in QEMU).

HP USB utility not need for launch DSL in QEMU

You won't need the HP USB utility to run DSL-embedded, the embedded version will start QEMU for you and than DSL in it, under emulation in windows.

You need the HP USB utility if you want to boot from your pendrive (not windows), as a standard operating system, instead of an emulated one.
