TorPark question

I read somewhere that Mr Haller had helped the developer of TorPark to disable allow multiple instances of FireFox, for security purposes I believe. Is there a way to remove this restriction? I do most of my work on firefox, but have a need to be anonymous for my normal, non-work related browsing. I can get around the limitation by starting up TorPark first and then PFF, but then if TP dies, I can't restart it until I also shutdown PFF. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Me too

I'd also like to know how to get PFF and TorPark to run at the same time. Some sites just don't need Tor, and without it, they load faster.

No

The specialized launcher included in TorPark needs to watch Firefox to determine when it closes so it can shut down Tor. That's why you can't have that option to run multiple. If, for instance, you started TorPark and then a local copy of Firefox... then closed TorPark, Tor would still be running in the background. And, when you unplugged your drive, Tor would crash.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

TorKill

Couldn't you just run TorKill before you exit and then use "safely remove hardware" to pull the drive out?
I do that anyway, because sometimes on the computers I use it on, Tor doesnt fully exit, and the drive stays in use.

I realize I have the same problem. I exit the programs, even go and kill processes, yet still something must be running as drive is deemed as still in use and can not "safely remove hardware". How do you go about it?

Would running torpark(or pff) with a process as something other than firefox.exe resolve this problem? (pardon if this is a newb question =-) )

It appears to be working for me. I renamed pff to be ff.exe, modified the .ini for pff to reflect this, and then started up torpark without a problem.

Ok, I must be missing

Ok, I must be missing something as this does not work for me.
I renamed firefox\firefox.exe and made the changes in PortableFirefoxCode\PortableFirefox.ini to reflect that. Now it just does not find the executable (apparently still looking for firefox.exe) and does not start.
Does it read the .ini file at all? Should any change be made in .nsi file?

The only change in .ini file I made was for "FirefoxExecutable=firefox.exe" parameter line.

Move the INI...

You need to put the .ini in the folder with the pff executable. do not leave it in the pffcode directory.

TorPark will need some tweaking too - does not connect so far.

Could not find much of the

Could not find much of the documentation on Web regarding TorPark product. I've tried running it for few days, but every time get an error message saying "Torpark was unable to establish a connection to the Tor network after trying..." Anyone familiar with such problem?
Is there a nice way around it?

I've been getting that same error too. Let me know if you figure it out.

"Torpark was unable to establish a connection to the Tor network after trying for 2 minutes. This may be caused by running programs which use many connections or lots of bandwidth. Please check your Internet connection and try again. Torpark will now terminate."

tor and firefox

Just run tor by itself..and let portable firefox use tor and the installed firefox NOT use tor...then one is secure..other is not...you don't have to run them in torpark...if you want both to start automatically a batch file is simple too.
