The PAM launchers are useful to start a certain app from your USB stick and I was thinking to add a small bit from the PAM installers, namely the detection of the Portable Apps USB stick. Remember how the installer of Portable Apps always finds the path to the portable apps?
This way the launcher could be copied to the desktop and be used as a 'shortcut' for the application on the USB drive. I think this might be useful in some occasions to use the launcher as an shortcut as well.
All scripting exists between the installer and launcher. Maybe this should be used standard to be able to create a 'shortcut' that always find portable apps drive letter.
I did little custom launchers but only for the root of my usb drive and would love to have them for the desktop. If i had the time i would start right now making one...
Do you plan to do it or is it just an idea?
I know some nsis and I could help if you need it...
I just LOVE the idea!

It doesn't find it wherever it is, it just looks for [drive]:\PortableApps\ on all drives.

So it does find it... if you use the 'normal' portable apps lay out.
No offense but thats how the portable apps installer does it like that too. I do have a copy of Portable Apps on my HDD as well but that one uses a sub-folder.
I guess it should start search by starting with first its own location, then from highest to first drive letter. That way it'll first search the removable drives connected.
Hmm, some people might use the B drive letter for portable devices as well...?
ignore the letters a and b...

Yeah, but some people have configured the often unused drive letter B as removable device letter. Hmm.
Why isn't C ignored as well as thats often the main HDD... Hmm maybe to ficilitate the installation of Portable Apps on the HDD...?
