Hi
Anybody Knows about some 3D / CAD modeller capable to run on a flashdrive?
I search on net and finding good open sources and free solutions, like
blender (http://www.blender.org/)
But nothing portable

blender portable is in the beta testing forums.
Other then that, I have no other idea- other then Autodesk/AutoCad interfaces are few and far between, even with the world of payed software.

I haven't tried it yet, but I did download it.
It's free, and a zip file, no install required.
Not sure what it does to the registry, if anything, but it should run from a thumb drive, since there is no install required.

There is one in development called LiteCAD. It can run from a USB drive but it is not quite 100% ready. A few commands do not work though but I e-mailed the developer and he said that he would be making updates soon. Full '07 dwg support (well 2D items it would seem).

This is a really nice little 2D CAD application. It's not quite there yet, but it's not far and runs just fine on my USB stick.
Thanks for the heads up.
Chris
Needs offset and trim commands to make me happy.
But its got a (wait for it) C-O-M-M-A-N-D L-I-N-E
Jumps up and dow insanely.
Plus, it looks like the icons were ripped off from Autocad.

Personally I believe Blender has ALL the features one could ever dream of. Perhaps serious CAD user would need something else, I don't know.
command line
I know, I know, but I miss the command line- I've tried blender and it just doesn't work the way good 'ol Autocad 2007 works.

What do you mean? Did you try looking at Blender's reference on command line options? (And does Blender portable launcher use the command lines to send to the actual executable?
No, the command line is a little box generally about 3 text lines tall that site on the bottom of the autocad interafce. You can type a command, such as line and it will draw a line for you.
I'm spoilt.

Oh, then I guess you need to learn Python, the scripting language Blender uses. I'm sure Python will be able to get that line drawn....
No- its not in the scripting language.
This is a pic of the command line in autocad.
Typing in options like the pic shows would go to the options dialoge.
You can get around really quick with your basic commands such as line, offset, xline, dimlinear, etc, etc, et cetera.
Anyway, that's what the command line is in autocad.
I like it, and so do hundreds of other old-school command line users. After spending three semesters+ using the command line for my basic functions, its hard to switch to using icons- which I don't like for various reasons.
Autocad has at least 16 releases, spanning back to dos.

Sorry my mistake.
I know people who construct python scripts that can create 3D objects though. And its used to make a GUI for a plugin.
But I guess you use it different.
No problem. It is interesting though that you can use python scripts to build 3d objects.
