GIMP install/uninstall failure

I installed GimpPortable in \System\Apps\GimpPortable.
Clicking on GimpPortable.exe launches the program fine.

Used Shortcut Creator to create a shortcut, but clicking the icon returns this message:
"An error occurred while trying to start the selected program."

Tried to "update" the GIMP shortcut, assuming I had made an error in the path.
SC created a second shortcut that also doesn't work.

Tried to uninstall both instances and get the message:
"Uninstall of GIMP.u3p failed."

Thanks,
Joel

Unsupported

That's entirely a shortcut creator or u3 issue... it has nothing to do with GIMP Portable. Use of portable apps within 3rd party packaging utilities on the U3 platform is not recommended or supported.

U3 rollback

Thanks for the quick reply.
Is there anyway to overwrite the entire U3 "operating system" and start over, or have I permanently trashed the system?

On your own

This community publishes and supports the open PortableApps.com Platform which works on all flash drives. We don't recommend or support the proprietary U3 platform. So, you're on your own with this one, sorry.

Thanks

Guess this was a good learning experience.
Tomorrow, I'll dump the U3 completely and switch to PortableApps.com Platform.
Am I correct that this site is the only place to get approved software? Meaning my mistake wasn't GIMP, but rather ShortCut Creator (and trusting SanDisk)?

Not Sure What You Mean

But this site currently has great software. Firefox, Pidgin, Thunderbird, they're all the best out there, better than a lot of closed source applications too in my opinion.

software

Actually, I loaded every bit of software on my U3 stick from this site, (except ShortCut Creator) but didn't load the Platform because, to be honest, I wasn't looking for it. The SanDisk memory stick came with U3 installed, and I didn't do any research into competing platforms. . .

Sorry guys.
I saw the post before it was, appropriately, removed.

I guess he could have paid the $10,000 and then it would have been OK.
