Resizing Portable Apps Suite GUI?

Hi-

Great programs and idea I am very glad I found this awesome place and programs!

I am having two problems I need help with

I am using the new eee pc and the screen is tiny and for some reason the GUI of the Portableapps suite doesnt show all the programs the GUI is too big. Is there any way to resize it? I have tried but I cannot figure out how to do that?

Secondly how do i add my existing firefox profile into the portableapps version of firefox is this possible?

thank you in advance for the help!!!

Do Search ;)

As these both have been asked, you can easily search the Firefox profile thing, or read the Firefox Portable support pages and figure that out.

As for the screen, yea, people have mentioned the size as well. My personal suggestion would to use the 'PAM MOD' (search it) and the 'Compact Theme' (search it as well. Smile

I am still unclear about PAM do I go with Compact Theme? Is that the only choice in making it smaller?

Thank you!

If you use

the normal PAM you cant resize it.
but if you use a mod you maybe can...

The PAM themes seem to be

The PAM themes seem to be specific to particular versions. For example, NeoRame lists the versions or "mods" of PAM that his themes work with. (I found them by doing a search, hint hint.)

Thanks for trying to help

Thanks for trying to help me! I did do a search from the first question I posted to including this one.

The link you provided doesnt answer my question unfortunately.

I cannot find an answer by searching either.

Maybe someone knows?

Can i download compact theme to reduce the gui size? or i need a PAM Mod and then compact Theme?

Thank you!

Themes get added to PAM

PAM themes are themes that you add to PAM -- like a costume that you put onto the Menu to make it look different. The actual works of the menu are the same, all that is different are the gui bits.

I think you download the compact theme for the PAM mod you have. If the PAM mod you have isn't listed, get one that is.

Do you know which version of PAM you currently have?

The link to the latest PAM

The link to the latest PAM update (the 1.1 beta 4, I think) is at

https://portableapps.com/suite

The various Mods are on other pages in the forums.

To find out which one you are running, you can open the menu and click on Help, then choose About. (If you don't have an "about" there, you don't have 1.1 beta 4. If you have a "help" but nothing happens when you click on it, you have version 1.0 and need to update to 1.1.)

I would get the 1.1 beta 4 to start with. The menu (on my machine) is a bit larger, but I think it will be easier for you to put a theme on it.

It's also the case that the 1.0 version of the theme doesn't work well with unusual graphic resolutions. The 1.1 beta 4 may solve your problem without a theme. (I can remember that it was confusing when I first loaded 1.0 -- and how everything started working properly when I set up the 1.1 beta 4.)

It may be that your eee PC is enough different that it needs some special handling; please be patient with us. I suspect the folks who are working on the GUI would want to make sure (if possible) that it works with your kind of machine, so you may get asked to help with testing.

Well

You go download This Mod of them PAM, which is unsupported. It should extract a folder called 'PortableAppsMenu' if I remember correctly, copy that folders contents to X:\PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu replacing the existing contents. Then go download the Compact Theme and install it by extracting it, and copying the theme folder to like X:\PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu\Data\Themes I believe. Then run the PAM MOD as you would run the PAM and change the theme through the Option Button.
