I really need a LaTeX editor for what I do, and a portable LaTeX frontend like TeXMaker would really hit the spot. More about it can be found at http://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/. Of course, any other frontend would work also, I'm just used to using it on Windows and Kile on GNU/Linux+KDE.
I don't really know much about it (as in code), except that it is written in Qt. This may cause a problem, since most of the programs you make are GTK+ (like GIMP), but if a portable version of it (or any other frontend) is possible, it will be greatly appreciated.

LaTeX is a tool that is used to create high quality reports and desktop publishing. It's very similar to HTML that it is text based, the main difference being that HTML is for the screen while LaTeX is for paper. Let's not forget their website:

TeXMaker is not LaTeX, but simply a program that makes it easier to develop LaTeX files. If you are familiar with developing software with an IDE like Eclipse, you know what I am talking about. While it is possible to create LaTeX files in Notepad, you must be crazy to do so.

Actually, Scite, which is being tested for release - see https://portableapps.com/node/2593 - has syntax coloring for TeX.
But an editor is quite different from the main TeX system. It could be immensely cool, if LaTeX was available as a PortableApp.

I've found a cool how-to on how to install a complete LaTeX environment on a USB Drive, here is the link:

It is ready. I just need to post the scripts and/or upload the package LyX and MiKTeX

As an alternative, you could also use EclipsePortable with the TeXlipse plugin (it seems the plugin is entirely portable if you just delete the driveletter at the start of all files during configuration (for example, if you configured your LaTeX Program path with browse... as "F:\PortableApps\miktex-portable-2.8.3582\miktex\bin\latex.exe", change it to "\PortableApps\miktex-portable-2.8.3582\miktex\bin\latex.exe")).
