JkDefrag is an OpenSource disk defragmenter with speed optimization. It supports disk analyzing and has a graphical user interface. (Learn more)
Alright, this new version is just the OpenSource version. Let me know if there's anything wrong in the launcher, etc.
To-Do
- As far as I know, absolutely nothing
JkDefrag v3.32 just came out.
What version is in your package?
Does it really need to be "portableized"?

I used a GUI, by a different author in addition to the current version. The GUI version is 1.0.0, so I just used that for the version number. The GUI allows users to configure what drive to defrag, what operations to perform, schedule a defrag, and much more. It is an expansion on the original JkDefrag. The GUI does have a config file, which I had to tweak a bit so that it would defrag removable drives. Also, please download the file before you critique it. If you had done so, you would have noticed that I used a GUI, not the command-line interface that it uses by default.

I was not critiqueing it.
I was just asking what version of the program you packaged.
v3.32 fixed some bugs, if you have packaged an earlier version of the program I would not want to download the file. Crashing the system is not something I want to happen during defragmentation, I'm not that brave a beta tester
I am familiar with the program and had used it in the past and remember it being pretty stand alone, hence my question about "Does it really need to be "portableized"?

No offense intended here either. Sorry if I was a little harsh. I suppose that it would be a good idea to change the version number. I'll look into it.

I'm thirteen years old, I live in the United States. I have been programming PortableApps for about a month now."
Are you still 13 and have you still only been programming for about a month?:p
What is your Avatar? Is that Peter from "Family Guy"?
I love "Family Guy"

I just changed my bio, so it is correct. Maybe two months, but it's somewhat correct. And that is a distorted santa tux.
And yes, very OT. Hehe.

this program for some time now and had no problems with it whatsoever.
What about including into the official list?
It doesnt require much work and would be great

Wasn't much work, but I'm in that stage right now. I suppose with a little work I could begin using registry entries, but not yet.

as criticism...
but registry entries aren't that complicated...:)

Hence the " ". Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I wanted to pack the program into paf format myself so that I finally have all my portables as pafs and can start using the "data only" backup function. So im glad you did it cause I dont have much time atm

JKDefragGUI is a closed source app despite the fact that it's sole purpose is to interface with a GPLed app that does the real work. The author will not open the source.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thank you for the clarification, John. I'll bring down the download and see what I can do.

I remember reading that a while back, and I think John said he's working on a front-end, but maybe I misunderstood.
Allow me.
KEVIN, SEARCH!
Just kidding...
I can help you with registry entries too, Simeon's right, they aren't that hard.
Well, it hasn't been released, so I'm doing it anyway.
Thanks for the help too.

what i found is just cosmetics:
check the first 3 lines of the launcher...it says something about pnotes and your copyright is missing (in case you want one )

Another app which I may or may mot use but will definately want to put on my flash drive anyways cause I might have to help someone with their computer problems!!!!!!!

I found the hard drive icon that was used to create the logo for JKDefrag, but in 256x256, and as a PNG, so I created a larger logo in PNG format, meaning full transparency on the edges. This can be resized to a smaller size and used in your splash if you wish.

I'll upload the OpenSource JkDefrag (unfortunately without a GUI) later this morning. Really nothing to it, and it doesn't need to be done except for the logs and the PAFing.

Pre-Release 2 has been released. It has only the OpenSource, CLI version, so it should be good.

Its a small and clean tool!
You might want to check the links in the help page...besides the fact that it isnt working there are 2 links in the "Go to the JkDefrag Portable Homepage >>"
Ant the nsi file has the wrong website (pnotes).
Thanks for packing it

Can you make it so there is only one .exe in the main folder please?

Just delete it. Some users may want it. Better to have more than enough than too much. Especially in programming.

I try to run this from my portable device, and it ignores it:
10:53:38 Analyzing volume 'E:\'
10:53:38 Ignoring volume 'E:\' because it is a removable disk.
Is there any way to make it not ignore a removable disk?
Thanks.

Open up the Portable Command Prompt (or Ninja Command, if you prefer).
Find the command version of JKDefrag on your thumb drive.
Drag and drop the command version of JKD into the Command window.
Add the letter of your thumb drive, followed by :
The text in your command window should look something like this:
E:\>E:\PortableApps\JkDefragPortable\App\JkDefrag\JkDefragCMD.exe E:
I haven't really used the portable version that was made here. I just copied the command version to the root directory of my thumb drive. By doing this, all that is needed to defrag your thumb drive is this:
Open up Portable Command Prompt
Type Jkdefrag E:
Press enter.
Remember to replace E with the letter of your thumb drive. This method bypasses the launcher, and therefore might leave traces on the host computer. Maybe a launcher can be made that will defrag the thumb drive?
I hope this helps!
JkDefrag-3.34 has been out for a while now. In order to upgrade, is it possible to just replace JkDefrag.exe & JkDefragCmd.exe (JkDefrag_Portable_3.3.2.0_PRERELEASE2.paf\$_OUTDIR\App\JkDefrag) with new versions ?!??
This obviously means that appinfo.ini in JkDefrag_Portable_3.3.2.0_PRERELEASE2.paf\$_OUTDIR\App\AppInfo will be edited to reflect the version change.
Regards,
Vladimir
Edit: NVM just realized that there are also JkDefragCommandPortable.exe & JkDefragPortable.exe executables so, actually... is there a way?

I'm currently in progress of updating all of my apps, so thank you for the heads-up. You should be able to just replace JkDefrag.exe and JkDefragCmd.exe in App\JkDefrag. Let me know how it works. Thanks.
