Firefox Portable 2.0.0.11 and extensions

Hello,

Is there a way to install extensions correctly for Firefox portable ?

I google a lot to find it, saw that a lot of people have the same problem
saw a lot of solutions :
delete extension.rdf, enable cache for a while, install extension by file open,
but it doesn't work all the time.

It took me a few hours to install all my extensions, one by one, for a lot of extensions, I have the message : not compatible with 2.0.0.11, as I know that theses are compatible (They are installed on my non portable firefox), I clear the cache, restart firefox, and after 2 or 3 try, the extension is installed and working.

But first time I plug my Usb key on an other PC, all extension are lost.
I delete teh extension.rdf and only a few extension are recovered.
I re-install other extensions (same problem every time, error with the xpi, etc and etc)and after a few times plug in my key on an other pc, rebelote, all extension lost.

IS there somewhere the real solution to install extensions ?

(sorry for my english)

Bertrand

Plugins != Extensions

Plugins are NOT extensions. Most plugins are just connectors to a full locally installed program (Quicktime, Adobe Reader, etc). So, of course, they're not portable.

something like...

if you have the Quicktime plugin but you dont have quicktime on the computer you are using at that moment it wont work.

I had an issue when i was using a flash plugin for a more upto date Flash player (Adobe) but the computer i was using Firefox on had an older version (Macromedia).

my mistake i talk about

I have never talk about plugins, every time about extensions ???
only a mistake in my first response

- adblock plus
- flasgot
- restartet and other like it (none can be installed)
- french dictionnary
- download status bar
- febe

and more

same problem for all,
same error message that I saw on a lot of page talking about this probleme

- not compatible (but after a few try, it works)
- not a valid install package (after a few try it works)
- error 270 -203

every time I close/restart firefox, and enable/clear the cache
after a few try some of the extensions are installed and works
but it take so long !!!!

I thought about my computer
so I try with and other one, freshly installed
same errors

Extensions.rdf

In that case, it's usually a corrupt extensions file. If you delete extensions.rdf (and possibly extensions.ini) from your FirefoxPortable\Data\profile folder, that should fix it.

You can use the MrTechLocalinstall addon

it makes the installation of addons more comfortable https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/421
else, why don´t You copy your local profile over Your portable ?

EDIT: all Your addons that need a fixed path for storing or settings might cause problems. Perhaps You should try a new download of FFP unpack it on Your desktop, install Your addons and then copy the whole onto Your USB-Drive.

I have many firefox(2.0.0.11) extensions installed and working perfectly. all of them were installed straight off of https://addons.mozilla.org with no issues by just clicking the green install buttons. I also had IE tab at one time and that one worked with no issues.

Extensions Fix

Delete "extensions.rdf" and "extensions.ini" from "FirefoxPortable\Data\profile" Than Restart FPP. Try to install the extensions again. Restart FPP and they should be working fine.
