Current version: 1.0.0.14
I wrote this because I miss having the 7-Zip context menu to quickly create archives while running portably. It supports just the ZIP and 7Z formats, but you can choose the compression level, whether to add or update files, and to use solid mode or not for 7z archives.
Configure your path to 7z.exe (the 7-Zip commandline utility) in the 7Zip.ini file. You can specify either a full or relative path. The relative path uses the drive letter the launcher resides on, so the rest of the path must be specified.
There's also a debug option which will popup a message box with the full commandline if you're just testing options (this was more for my testing, but I left it in there). This mode will not compress any files.
Extract the three files to any directory to use it (exe, ini, jpg). It supports drag-and-drop or (my preference) SendTo shortcuts. You can send it any mix of files and folders, and they will be added recursively. I use Ryan's RDTools to create portable SendTo shortcuts -

Set the archive options in the GUI. The archive will be created in the same directory as the files/folders you are adding.

- fixed file recursion bug (-r0 switch instead of -r)
I will most certainly use this. Very nice!

Thanks!
Can't extract the archive. For some odd reason, I see the file extension as .zip, but firefox keeps telling me that it is a .gz file in the download dialoge.

Hmm, sorry, I'm not having that problem. I just downloaded it and extracted to make sure. FF recognizes it as a ZIP Compressed folder, and it opens with a normal ZIP program.
Try just saving to your desktop and opening it normally. Maybe something's messed up with your FF mime types?
i rebooted my computer, tried the download again, and everything was normal....i dunno what happened there.

I made a little syntax update to fix a rare but possible path bug where 7z.exe would not be found. You don't need to update unless the program is failing, ie no archive is created.
Not sure if I really "need" this app, but I gave it a go.
Suggest you add some more info to the .ini comments spelling out that debug mode will only show the command line path and not actually execute the compressing. When I think of a debug mode, it gives the user more insight into what may be broken, but the program will still try to carry out the task.
Nice little program. Next time I need to compress something, I'll try to remember to use this instead of running 7-zip and using their interface to navigate to the file(s). Maybe I'll find out I really do "need" this after all.

Small update to fix a file recursion bug. See first post.
Windows says nothing is in zip file, 7 zip won't extract

Hmm, sorry don't know what to say. I just downloaded and tested, made zips and 7z's with files, folders, and mix. All work correctly.
Download works fine. Now to get it set up!
